General Summary of the Discussions

A GENERAL SUMMARY OF OUR DISCUSSIONS     First of all, I want to mention about topics that we have already discussed about. In our first week we discussed about online teaching and learning. In our second week we have discussed about the importance of presence in online education. The topic of the third week was that online learner engagement. And our last topic was flipped classrooms.      In our first week the topic was very interesting and crucial for the time that we are in right now… With the help of technology, face to face learning is changing into online and distance learning. Along with this, because of the pandemic distance and online learning is becoming the most important part of our lives. On the other hand, distance education first used in 1728 in Boston and it was like mailed lessons. A professor tried it by giving advertisements on the newspaper about his course and found some students from that advertisement and started to send them weekly mails...

KANGAROO WORD

A kangaroo word is a word that contains letters of another synonymous word in its correct sequence. For example: the word masculine contains the word male, which is a synonym of the first word ; similarly, the word alone contains its synonym lone. Before one week, I found this interesting topic on the Internet. Then I decided to search more on this. After starting the etymology class, I was more curious about the history of words,so let's see what is the history of kangaroo Word? The etymology of phrase kangaroo word is from the fact that kangaroos carry their young, known as joeys, in a body pouch. Likewise, kangaroo words carry their joey  words within themselves. Let's move on some examples so that make the topic more clear. Action → Act Alone → One Because → Cause Before → Ere Blossom → Bloom Honorable → Noble Department → Arm

IS AUGMENTED REALITY BECOMING MORE COMMON?

Before one week, while I was surfing on the Instagram, I saw an add about The Walking Dead's new game. As everyone knows that TWD is a very famous TV serie and it has lots of fans. The producers of TWD catch the technology and they release an AR game. They let you shoot the zombies while you are walking on the street. If you see someone escaping from nothing these days, don't be shock because they must be escaping from zombies which you will never see unless you download the game. 😁 I didn't try it yet but as soon as possible I will try it :) Here is a short video have fun. 😊

STORYBOARD FOR PRINCIPLES OF EDUCATION

We are learning techniques and principles of education in our classes. And we mentioned about disabled students. So our teacher, Professor Esra Akgül Macaroğlu, wants us to prepare a storyboard scenario to regain disabled students and motivate them in the classroom. Me and my teammates Melih Kargın, Behiç Gürsoy and Aykut Kökçe prepared thsi storyboard. While we were preparing it, we considered the teaching principles and global design principles. This assignment is our final Project for the course of Principles and Techniques of Education. Don't forget "Disorders cannot obstacle anything…"

AUGMENTED REALITY (AR)

Augmented reality is often presented as a kind of futuristic technology, but a form of it has been around for years. For example, the heads-up displays in many fighter aircraft as far back as the 1990s would show information about the attitude, direction and speed of the plane, and only a few years later they could show which objects in the field of view were targets.  In the past decade, various labs and companies have built devices that give us augmented reality. In 2009, the MIT Media Lab's Fluid Interfaces Group presented SixthSense, a device that combined the use of a camera, small projector, smartphone and mirror. The device hangs from the user's chest in a lanyard fashion from the neck. Four sensor devices on the user's fingers can be used to manipulate the images projected by SixthSense.  Google rolled out Google Glass in 2013, moving augmented reality to a more wearable interface; in this case, glasses. It displays on the user's lens screen via a...

VIRTUAL REALITY (VR)

Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds. By simulating as many senses as possible, such as vision, hearing, touch, even smell, the computer is transformed into a gatekeeper to this artificial world. The only limits to near-real VR experiences are the availability of content and cheap computing power. Virtual Reality’s most immediately-recognizable component is the head-mounted display (HMD). Human beings are visual creatures, and display technology is often the single biggest difference between immersive Virtual Reality systems and traditional user interfaces. For instance, CAVE automatic virtual environments actively display virtual content onto room-sized screens. While they are fun f...
